Refund Guide
Audi GAP Insurance Refund
Paid off your Audi early? You may be owed a refund on your Audi Pure Protection GAP. Whether a refund is automatic depends on state law, the contract, and the payoff process — if you haven't received one, request a written calculation. Here is how to claim your money.
Refund Eligibility
If you pay off your Audi loan early, refinance, sell, or trade in, you may be owed a prorated refund of the unused GAP charge. If GAP was financed into the loan, the refund is typically applied to the balance unless the loan is already paid off.
Who Administers Audi GAP
Audi Pure Protection GAP (and GAP Plus, which adds a replacement-vehicle credit) is a waiver sold at Audi dealers and administered by Safe-Guard Products International. The obligor is VWFS Protection Services; Audi Financial Services is operated by VW Credit.
Audi GAP is administered by Safe-Guard Products International, not by Audi Financial Services. Cancellations run through Safe-Guard, the obligor VWFS Protection Services, or the selling dealer.

Free-Look Window & How the Refund Is Calculated
Audi Pure Protection GAP has a 30-day full-refund window when no claim has been filed. In California, AB 2311 requires a 30-day full refund and bars cancellation fees entirely.
After the free-look window, refunds are prorated by the remaining term, minus a cancellation fee reported at $50 (no fee in California). Confirm the method and fee in your Customer Agreement.
When You May Be Owed a Audi GAP Refund
- Paying off the loan early

Regulatory & Legal Context
The CFPB October 2024 Supervisory Highlights flagged auto servicers for making GAP cancellation difficult and for not applying refunds after repossession. You generally retain the right to cancel and request a refund.
Audi GAP Refund FAQs
Who administers Audi Pure Protection GAP?
Safe-Guard Products International administers the product; the obligor is VWFS Protection Services. Audi Financial Services (operated by VW Credit) is the lender. To cancel, contact Safe-Guard at 1-800-742-7896 or your selling dealer.
Can I cancel if I refinance my Audi loan?
Yes. Refinancing terminates the original finance agreement and the GAP waiver no longer covers the new loan, so you may be owed a prorated refund of the unused portion. Your new lender will not carry GAP unless you add it.
I live in California. What are my rights?
California is the most protective state for GAP. Under AB 2311 and Civil Code 1794.41 you can cancel anytime, get a full refund within 30 days, a prorated refund after, with no cancellation fee, and the refund must be issued within 60 business days.
